Rehardening of used rolls
The “lifetime” of surface hardened rolls depends on thickness of the hardened layer. When the harened layer is worn out, the roll has to be taken out of production process. If the roll is properly rehardened, it can be used again.
By rehardening, the roll »life« can be extended
With a special technological process, the used roll can get a »second life«. In the process of rehardening, the surface layer regains the required hardness without influencing other characteristics of the roll. The rehardened roll keeps the dimension and other parameters of the former roll. The "second lifetime" of such rolls is equivalent to that of new rolls; however the costs in this case are significantly lower.
Successful revitalisation of old rolls is made possible by our dual frequency induction hardening machine (BIKS 830), which supports simultaneous functioning of a low frequency (50-100 Hz) and high frequency (250-1000 Hz) inductor.
Application of the combined frequencies enables us to carry out proper heat treatments in accordance to customer’s preferences.
