Induction hardening of rolls
Surface hardened rolls have to withstand high area pressure while the surface retains the required hardness. These properties are achieved with a combined heat treatment, where the roll is quenched and tempered to the basic hardness first and then the surface is hardened to the proper working hardness and depth.
We offer surface (induction) hardening of products within following dimensional ranges:
- diameter 150 to 850 mm,
- length max. 5500 mm and,
- weight max. 18.000 kg.
Rolls are surface hardened in a
dual frequency induction hardening machine (BIKS 830), followed by the process of rapid cooling with liquid nitrogen
below -140 °C and then
tempered at low temperature.
